Mystery/Suspense/Thriller

Detective MacKenzie and her partner are given the case of a man found murdered in a church whose body has a message pinned to it. Their investigation leads to connections with the world of crime, in particular a female boss and her head of security. Tavia Gilbert’s performance is mixed. Her Spanish and Spanish accents are authentic, and she reads the action and dramatic scenes well. But some of her character voices are not as well defined, and she often reads in a deliberate, almost staccato, rhythm that interrupts the flow of the story. A smoother narration would have made this romantic suspense more enjoyable. However, fans of the genre will overlook these imperfections.—AudioFile Magazine
