I was delighted to receive another Earphones Award from AudioFile Magazine for my recent performance of THE PEACOCK FEAST, by Lisa Gornick (Macmillan Audio). The lovely review noted,
“Gilbert…does a remarkable job depicting every character, male and female, young and old, with believable accents when warranted.”
The project was a bit of a rush — I had to record a nearly 13-hour book in just a little over two days — so I’m extra thrilled the narration swept the listener away. Performing writing as beautiful as Gornick’s is delicious, and the time never felt compressed, even when the engineer and I were working hard to get it in on time.
