Narrators Tavia Gilbert and Charles Constant deliver a stylish and professional dual narration. After a humiliating breakup 27 years earlier, Cécile finds herself sitting next to her ex-boyfriend, Philippe, on an early morning train to Paris. During the uncomfortable and silent journey, listeners hear their story unfold through their thoughts as they independently review each other, comparing the people they once were to who they are now. Gilbert and Constant bring Cécile and Philippe’s innermost thoughts alive. Both use authentic-sounding pronunciation of French names, which helps create atmosphere. The two narrators effectively help listeners follow the sometimes opposing viewpoints of the two characters. As the story comes to an end, Paul Bellantoni delivers the final part, in which listeners are left with a tantalizing cliff-hanger. —AudioFile Magazine
