In New York Times bestselling author Wally Lamb’s new novel, Annie Oh falls in love with her Manhattan-based art dealer, Vivica, setting off a stick of emotional dynamite that blasts apart long-held secrets, a twenty-seven-year marriage, and her relationship with her three children. The all-star cast bringing the audiobook to life is led by the maestro George Guidall and the author. Also narrating the intricate and emotional work are Maggi-Meg Reed, Tavia Gilbert, Richard Ferrone, Edoardo Ballerini, Cynthia Darlow, Therese Plummer, Robin Miles, and Sandy Rustin. This team of actors weaves an intricate and wrenching story of a modern society in which changing mores are changing the definition of love and family. AudioFile Magazine
An all-star cast transforms Lamb’s latest novel of characters caught in an emotionally charged web. The structure—organized into sections that reflect a single character’s viewpoint—lends itself to multiple narrators. Each tells his or her version of events, but these stories intertwine and blend past and present. Lamb himself reads the role Orion Oh, father, husband, ex-husband, and struggling psychologist. His voice is light and even, giving an insightful reading that contrasts nicely with Maggi-Meg Reed’s edgy portrayal of his artist wife, Annie (who has left him to marry a woman). Tavia Gilbert, Edoardo Ballerini, and Therese Plummer effectively portray the adult Oh children, each interestingly flawed and reacting in strikingly different fashion to the family crisis. Guidall introduces each speaker and, in an authentic-sounding Italian accent, portrays an art historian. An intriguing interview with Lamb at the end enhances this elegantly written story of families, secrets, and memories. Booklist
